Formerly a professional journalist, Fiona Veitch Smith is now an author of books for adults and children. Her adult mystery series, Poppy Denby Investigates, set in the 1920s, is published by Lion Fiction. The first book in the series, The Jazz Files, was shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) Endeavour Historical Dagger award, 2016.

I love Poppy Denby: she is such a fun protagonist! The plot of The Cairo Brief is great – so many twists and turns. what a fantastic insight into the 1920s!

Really enjoyed reading about poppy and her adventures. All the characters are life like and fiona makes it easy to enter into their world.
