  25. This novel explores gender, language, and other aspects of the developing self, showing transitioning as an integral part of life. While the book dwells in depth with the son’s character and his anxiety around becoming a father, I wish the story had evolved further and had gone deeper into the challenges that transgender Michel-Michelle, his-herslf, faced.
