Synopsis
Axel is an architect in Lille and the son of transgender Michel-Michelle, his birth mother Amelia and her partner, Naomi. Potential fatherhood brings back memories of his childhood as he recalls his relationship with his ‘three mothers’ and the mix of French and English in his identity.
Authors Biography
Margo Gorman marched for civil rights while studying English at University. Developing and managing projects for Save the Children; equality campaigns and research on interculturalism at Manchester University. Life experience, cross-community work and published non-fiction have fuelled Margo’s passion for exploring untold stories of inequality and oppression through fictional characters.

In a world of pandemia, where people are constantly looking for a sense of self, this novel is a refreshing read. Fluidity is not only about gender identities but also about linguistic and family issues.
In too much discourse truth ist lost.
This novel explores gender, language, and other aspects of the developing self, showing transitioning as an integral part of life. While the book dwells in depth with the son’s character and his anxiety around becoming a father, I wish the story had evolved further and had gone deeper into the challenges that transgender Michel-Michelle, his-herslf, faced. Maybe we can look forward to “Michel-Michelle II”.
