Synopsis

Ash is getting into trouble again.

This time, it’s on behalf of other kids, mostly. She knows the score, she’s been there, done that, got the t-shirt and now she’s going in to do battle – again.

Ash has to use her experience and knowledge gained over the past few years – half her life – and figure out who she can trust and who really is all about looking after her best interests. The people she and other kids should be able to rely upon to safeguard their interests don’t always come up to scratch. Ash’s job – whether she chooses to accept it or not – is to weed out the ones with ulterior motives and make sure they don’t harm any more kids.

  8. Review of Ash and the Faceless Man, by D. Michelle Gent
    J C Edwards, 2026

If you’ve been lucky enough to read any of Michelle’s books, you’ll love this one. The second of the series that began with the award-winning Ash and the Favour Man, the book continues Ash’s journey with even more twists and turns that will keep your focus riveted on the pages. She takes your emotions on a fast-paced roller-coaster ride; and at one point I had to stop reading for a minute just to breathe.

Even if you haven’t read the first book (and I absolutely recommend that you do read it), you’ll find yourself drawn to Ash and into her sometimes chaotic world, because the story is so relatable on some level to many of Michelle’s readers. And never underestimate the feisty determination, natural intellect and inventive plotting Ash uses to manoeuvre effortlessly in her environment.

Just when you think it’s safe, never forget that Michelle Gent’s writing is full of surprises. The author’s keen insight into life in general; and Ash’s story in particular, makes Ash and the Faceless Man a great read. I can’t wait for the final installment!

  9. superb read couldn’t put book down

  14. Wendy Gautreau Awesome supered read!!!

  15. Another great book!!!!

  16. I read the second book first (mistake! read the first one, it sets up the story brilliantly). The second book was emotional and a little disconcerting. I then got curious and searched for the first book. That’s worth a read too!
Gent is a writer skilled in drawing the reader into the story, forcing the reader to walk alongside the characters, especially the main one, Ash, and then she hits you in the feels! Ash, a small, vulnerable, frail child is a powerhouse of vengeance, intelligence and pre-teen fury that should deter you from liking the child, but it does the opposite. I found myself cheering her on – in everything she did, even the crimes.

  17. highly recommended

  18. I really enjoyed Ash and the Faceless man, its a great sequel to Ash and the Favourman.

  19. Brilliant! Life Michelle’s writing style.

  20. Michelle always gifts us with smart, bold warrior women, every book is an ‘unputable down’ escape into other worlds and a reminder of what we are capable of with courage.

  21. fantastic read

  22. The second book in the Ash series. The first, Ash and the Favour Man, leads us into Ash’s world, where she comes up fighting, through some absolutely heart-wrenching events. This second story, Ash and the Faceless Man just builds the scenes which follow, taking us deeper into Ash’s scrapes through her most influential years. Yet again, Gent has written another book that is impossible to put down. You are dragged along with Ash, on every page, with a thirst for more and more. You can see Ash, feel her pain, empathise with her for the blows that she has been dealt, yet you want to be with her on all her adventures. Bravo Gent, another phenomenal book.
