  1. Delightful world and really good three dimensional characters. Love the multi tasking single mum and how she handles the demands of three children, her professional gardening obligations and a murder on top of it. Gorgeous writing, witty and charming with suspense locking on at just the right time. And no, I didn’t guess whodunnit.

  2. Liz Fielding’s Mayfield series gets better and better. This is the third, but still works as a standalone (though you’ll get some extra joy if you read them in order).

When Abby wins a gold medal for her garden at the Maybridge Show, she’s asked to appear on Daisy Dashwood’s TV show, ‘In The Potting Shed’… except Daisy collapses at Abby’s feet, and when Abby hears of Daisy’s demise she thinks it’s suspicious.

There are lots of people who’d want Daisy dead, for a variety of reasons. Daisy’s assistant isn’t all that she seems. Then there’s the producer, plus the girl who wants Daisy’s job – and an old rival. Lots of red herrings and skilful hiding of the murderer in plain sight; plus the gardening stuff is wonderful, as are Abby’s family and Jake. The pacing’s good, the plot’s sound, and the cast of characters is like being among old friends.

Thoroughly good read and very much recommended.

  3. A delightful third book in this series of entertaining murder mysteries. Credible characters, who now feel like old friends, excellent sense of place. Liz Fielding makes her readers care about Abby and family enough to keep the pages turning through well paced twists and turns straight through to the satisfying ending. I thoroughly recommend this book.

  4. A perfect cosy mystery!

  5. Beautifully crafted characters that you really come to care about, fascinating plot twists, a delightful setting in a village we’d all love to live in – apart from the fact that people tend to die in strange circumstances! Grippingly page turning from page one, I absolutely loved it!

  6. loved this book, great characters and the story twists and turns to the very end!

  7. Delighted this title is included in this great collection of books and authors. Buy, read and vote for it.

  8. I found the plot to be multi-layered enough to satisfy my love for twisted puzzles. Believable, rounded characters made it a joy to read.

  9. The third book in the Mayfield series – I’ve loved them all! Wonderful characters, an engaging, twisty plot and a village that seems so very real.

  10. This is rapidly turning into one of my favourite series and each book gets better and better – great characters, twisty plots and an engaging setting.

  11. Cannot help but love the characters and imagining the beauty of the gardens. Thoroughly enjoy Liz Fielding’s writing.

  12. Oh my gosh but I love these stories.

  13. I love this series. All the things I loved in Liz Fielding romances but with bonus murder mysteries.

  14. Ms. Fielding is master of her craft. This series of books are proof of that. I just adore the characters, the village and all the “mayhem,” not in a bad way. I have always loved detective shows, these books are right up my alley. Amazing characterization, dialogue and the lovely surroundings. What could you want more in a beautifully written mystery! Liz Fielding is a wonderful author and I am so glad I discovered her many years ago. Now, we have her new mystery series to look forward to. Very grateful! I hope there will be many more of them!

  15. A perfect murder mystery. Thrilling to read.
